Richard Lumsden Richard Lumsden trained at the Guildford School of Acting, graduating in 1986.
Recent TV work includes Nathan in Channel 4’s Emmy award-winning drama Sugar Rush, Party Animals and The Catherine Tate Show for the BBC. Other leading roles include Colin in 3 series of Is It Legal? [ITV], Henry in Wonderful You [ITV], Foggy in 2 series of First Of The Summer Wine, Charles in All About Me, Nutter in The Sharp End and Roger in The House That Jack Built [all BBC]. Other TV appearances include The Croydon Poisonings, Love Soup, Hornblower, People Like Us, Dangerfield, Coogan’s Run - Death Of A Salesman, Nelson’s Column, Casualty, Chalk, Doctors, Waterfront Beat, Celeb, Brittas Empire, One Foot In The Grave & Hardware. Forthcoming TV appearances on Suburban Shootout [C5] & Comic Relief 2007.
Films include Sense and Sensibility, The Avengers, Room To Rent, Silent Cry, Gospel Of John & Attila The Hun. On radio he plays Ray in Clare In The Community. Recent plays include The Killing Of Dr Morgan and The Trouble With Caves for R4.
He performed his own one–man musical play The Fall & Rise of Lenny Smallman at the Mill Theatre in Guildford in 2006 and previously in London at the Bridewell Theatre & The Royal Academy of Music. His repertory theatre work at Stoke-on-Trent & Basingstoke include Master Harold & The Boys, title role in Hamlet, As You Like It, King Lear, A Trip To Scarborough, Amadeus, Juno And The Paycock, Far From The Madding Crowd, Having A Ball, Roche in Rat In The Skull at Theater Exchange, Minneapolis USA, and John Thorpe in Northanger Abbey at Greenwich.
His writing work includes a 7-hour drama Wonderful You for ITV [co-written with Chris Niel] and three verse plays for Radio 4: John Dodd Gets Taken For A Ride [nominated for the BBC’s Iverson award for new writing], A Good Place For Fishing with Anne Reid and Man in the Moon with Tom Courtenay [The Guardian and Daily Telegraph's Pick-of-the-Week]. Performed readings of his new play Skeletons have taken place at Soho Theatre and The Venue in London.
He has composed music for TV and theatre including a full musical score for Alice In Wonderland at the New Victoria Theatre in Stoke, title music for The Morning Show [BBC] and incidental music for Greg Wise’s BBC documentary about Jack Good. He has released a cd with his highly dedicated [and woefully underpaid] band Henry Kissing Her - A Little of Who You Fancy [1996], a solo album Pull [2006], and also released a CD of piano music Concert From The Eyrie [2001]. Richard is currently writing the music for the forthcoming feature film “Morris”.
