Currently under development are four scripts by Richard Lumsden - A new play set in a house in London, where six close friends gradually reveal the secrets they have all been keeping for many years. They discover most people will behave completely out of character at some moment in their lives. Over the course of the night, the revelations have a devastating effect on the relationships. The play, then entitled Weirdos) was work-shopped in 2004 at the Soho Theatre, and on was presented last year as a rehearsed reading with an exemplary cast at The Venue [off Leicester Square] - you can view the cast of the reading and

The Fall & Rise of Lenny Smallman (formerly We Could Be Heroes) A struggling songwriter tries to follow in the footsteps of his heroes but life, of course, never turns out as planned, and his road to middle-age is strewn with unsuccessful relationships and disappointing career moves. On his epic journey into adulthood, he gradually realises his lifelong dreams won’t be coming true, then a big music festival gives him an opportunity for one final moment of glory. Then again, something could always go wrong… The Fall & Rise of Lenny Smallman received Time Out Critics' Choice during its run in November 2004 (then called We Could Be Heroes) at the Bridewell Theatre and was described as 'Warm hearted and perfectly executed' while Emma Whitelaw of IndieLondon called the production 'a tale of epic proportions and certainly one not to be missed!'. THE FALL & RISE OF LENNY SMALLMAN, written and performed by Richard Lumsden will play for a limited season at London's Arts Theatre from 22 April through 4 May 2008 - for full details click here.
A 30 minute TV pilot for a comedy-drama set in a rough, impoverished suburb of Leeds, about the different ways of coping with life’s unhappiness when nothing goes the way as planned. Faith is a young black priest from London, appointed to her first church in Armley. Eddie, her white partner of many years, is a psychic counsellor. Both struggle to provide their own systems for helping people through the hard times. She has to deal with the terrifying elderly parishioners, none of whom are happy at the church’s appointment of a black woman from London. He is faced with some of the more desperate members of society, who fully expect him to predict winning lottery numbers and to be able to raise up the
spirits of the dead. A one-hour TV pilot for a new police series set in the fictional town of Filthorpe on the north Lincolnshire coast. The script has been developed in conjunction with four serving police officers, all of whom wanted to spill a few of the secrets which don’t usually make it to the screen in the more traditional cop show. Many police officers feel undervalued in their work, that today’s laws increasingly benefit the criminal. When superiors are willing to turn a blind eye however, there is always the implementation of the Ways & Means Act to help get the job done, which works for 90% of the time in a town as lawless as Filthorpe. The result is a very dark and funny police drama that pulls no punches.
